King Tournament: Club Championship

The King

The King is the most important piece on the board even if it is not the most powerful! He must be protected at all costs. Guard him with pawns, tuck him safely in the corner, provide him with “luft”, protect him with a bishop at g3 or g6, post a knight at f6 or g3 to make sure h2 or h7 are covered. If you do not do this then you might lose the game! Then, near the end of the game, when it is safe to do so, march him down the board to eat up the remaining pawns and cover the Queening square, thus ensuring another victory for your Monarch!
