Tournament of the
Mighty Rook
|
Of all the pieces on the board, the Rook is
the one that must be called Mighty. He is huge and powerful and sits in
his
lonley corner until it is time for him to come out to join in the
battle.
When most of the foot soldiers have
fallen,
leaving openings in the lines, when the knights and bishops have given
their
all to protect their king, when even the Queens have been sacrificed or
traded,
then the mighty Rook emerges to dominate the open files.
With space to move, he can show his
powers. He will eliminate the remaining
opponent’s
foot soldiers, isolate the opposing King and finally escort his last
remaining
soldier to be Queened and thus win the battle.
Who among our Slowtimers will gain the
Title of Mighty Rook (MiR)? Which one of us will demonstrate to all how
to win Rook
and Pawn end games? Which of us deserves this great title?
Time, victories and defeats will tell
the
tale of the Mighty Rook
