Master of the Merciless Queen Tournament

The Merciless Queen

Nefertiti, Cleopatra, Catherine the Great,
Elizabeth 1, Isabella, Catherine de Medici, Mary Queen of Scots were all powerful monarchs who could inspire both fear and awe in their subjects. We might even bring in some from the modern era: Indira Gandhi, Golda Meir and the Iron Maiden (Margaret Thatcher).

Like the above, The Chess Queen demonstrates the same power and awe. Let her off the back rank and she can decimate an opposing army with a few deft strokes, forcing the King to the corner where he will surely be toppled.

Of course, with such power comes vulnerability. Because she is so potent, she is subject to threats and attacks. If she gets too deep into enemy territory too early or if she decides to attack a few defenseless foot soldiers, she can be challenged and forced to retreat and, at worst, trapped and captured.

We need a member of the Slowtimers to control and, perhaps, even eliminate the Merciless Queen. For such a daunting task his reward will be the title of “Master of the Merciless Queen.” (MMQ)
